Yes, Smokey still seems to have some traction. The butts stopped showing up at my gate after Smokey nailed the cigarette pack to the gate post. That bear can swing a hammer!
Except a few days later, the nailed-up cig pack disappeared and there were lots of cigarette butts, trash, and juice bottles in front of the gate, and a cheap bottle of rum smashed to shards all over the road. So much for thinking I was a tough old country bird. I cleaned it up, swept the glass off the road, and was late to work. No signs of Smokey but the neighbors waved or stopped and said they would keep their eyes open for the sloppy drinkers.
